Revived Textiles

Revived Textiles explores the connection between traditional craftsmanship and modern technology to create a textile collection for the high-end interiors market. Inspired by the detailed artistry of the Great Mughals and my mother’s childhood photography from India, I have developed a body of work that reimagines historical motifs through contemporary techniques and colour palettes.

I have used hand-painting with wallpaper paints to achieve a chalky, muted finish, screen printing with opaque and normal binders to maintain subtle, sophisticated tones, digital printing to capture layered details, and CAD embroidery to introduce depth and texture. These processes allow me to balance traditional artistry with modern production methods, producing textiles that feel rich, tactile, and relevant for today’s interiors.

My motifs, drawn from Mughal florals, animals, and geometric structures, have been adapted through scale, layout, and colour to suit contemporary spaces. Careful sampling and colour testing have been key to developing a coherent and versatile collection. Revived Textiles responds to the growing demand for textiles that combine historical depth with modern usability, offering a layered, sophisticated alternative to trend-driven design.

Through this project, I revive the concept of timeless craftsmanship, blending history and innovation in a way that feels both authentic and contemporary.
